GUWAHATI: A man has been arrested in Hatigaon following allegations of misconduct and extortion filed against him by a woman on Saturday, March 1.

The accused, who resides in the same apartment complex as the complainant, was taken into custody after an FIR was lodged at Hatigaon police station.
Talking to GPlus, an official from Hatigaon police station said, "The FIR was filed two days ago, and based on the complaint, we arrested the accused. He resides in Kripa Apartment, where the complainant also lives."
The complainant, identified as the wife of Ashiq Uddin Ahmed, alleged that the accused, Haque, repeatedly harassed her and even attacked both her and her child.
Further, the police official revealed that Haque was caught on video carrying a stick and making threats. "There are videos of him wielding a stick, threatening the woman," the official confirmed.
"The accused allegedly demanded large sums of money from the victim" the official added.
"He has been arrested and now is in judicial custody", he further added.
Further investigation is underway.
