The victim had visited the Badarpur Circle Officer’s office earlier in the day to obtain an income certificate. In the evening, she boarded a public bus operated by ATSC to return home, only to find the vehicle nearly empty, with just two other passengers inside. Sensing danger, she tried to disembark, but the bus doors were locked, and the perpetrators allegedly attempted to assault her. She eventually lost consciousness and was later abandoned near Sargola.

The victim was attempted to be sexually abused as per statements but the suspects failed to do so.

Upon receiving information about the incident, her family and members of the Hindu Raksha Dal rushed to her aid, rescuing her and taking her to the hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.

Talking to GPlus, Sribhumi SP Partha Pratim Das said, "We have detained about 10 people and the vehicle in the incident and will try to identify and confirm the suspects soon.”

Meanwhile, protestors have demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits within 24 hours, warning of intensified agitation if justice is delayed.
