GUWAHATI: With Anti CAB protests continuing in different parts of Guwahati, a fear-psychosis is prevailing in many localities of the state with rumour-mongers having a field day, which is adding fuel to the fire.
In the last three days, the area starting from Cycle factory to Lal Ganesh in Guwahati has become a centre of heightened activity during the night time as people came out in groups on rumours that certain localities in the area will come under attack from a people of a particular community.
The situation has reached such a pass the citizen vigil groups were seen on roads during night time to avert any such situation.
“We have received a call from people from many areas that our locality will come under attack one of these days. So we have informed that to the police and taking caution ourselves by forming groups to stay vigilant during night time,” a resident of Lal Ganesh said.
In the absence of internet, fake messages are spreading like wildfire and causing panic in many areas.
The administration is also not taking any chances and has deployed additional security in all these areas as a preventive measure.
