GUWAHATI: The Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party is confident that the party with its allies will win all the 14 Lok Sabha seats in the Lok Sabha elections 2014.

Speaking to media at the party headquarters in Hengrabari, Guwahati, General Secretary (Organization), Phanindra Nath Sarmah, said, “The Bharatiya Janata Party's preparations for Lok Sabha elections are complete. Our prista pramukhs (incharge of a page in voters’ list) have been working for the past one year now. So we expect that through our organisational strength and people's wish, in the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha election we will get expected results.”

Replying to a question on Congress's preparedness, Sarmah said, “They are always prepared and so are we. Since the 2016 Assam assembly elections none of the political parties say that they are preparing for the elections, but we say that we are preparing, and we are doing it seriously. That's why after the 2016 assembly election the general public has favoured us in all elections in the state – panchayat polls, council polls. Our 2019 results would be even better than the existing. At present we have 7 seats and we will win all the 14 seats with the help of our coalition partners.

Party General Secretary, Dilip Saikia said, “Our preparations are done and we are planning to win all the 14 seats. We have decided to leave the Kokrajhar seat to our alliance partner Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) and the central leadership will decide on it.”

“To win the 13 seats we have been preparing for the past two years. Starting right from the grassroots, our prista pramukhs, booth presidents, Shakti Kendra convenors, Mandal Committees, Zila Committees, various morchas and departments have been preparing for the polls and our organisational preparations are about to get completed. As an organisation we are ready for the polls. The announcement of the polls will likely be around 8th or 9th March, and soon after that we will start our election publicity,” said Dilip Saikia.
