GUWAHATI: On August 28, a female police personnel was accused of slapping a woman protester during a demonstration outside the Assam Secretariat in Dispur.
The protesters were asking for the return of land from which they had been evicted and planned to march towards the Assam Assembly.

Tensions escalated when the police intervened to block their path, leading to the alleged physical altercation.
As per reports, the confrontation occurred while the police were attempting to disperse the crowd. The incident has prompted significant backlash and raised serious questions about the conduct of law enforcement during demonstrations.
In response to the allegations, the Commissioner of Police in Guwahati has ordered an immediate enquiry into the incident to assess the genuineness of the incident.
