Horses & Riders Shine At Assam State Equestrian Championship In Guwahati

 

GUWAHATI: The 5th Assam State Equestrian Championship concluded at the 4th Assam Police Battalion grounds in Kahilipara, Guwahati. The three-day event, held from April 19 to 21, brought together 74 riders and 41 horses from across the state.

Teams from AVS Tezpur, Army Base Missamari, NCC Guwahati, Royal Global University, EFA Centre Dibrugarh, and Assam Police (4th APBN) participated in various competitions across multiple equestrian disciplines.

The championship was organised to promote equestrian sports in Assam and showcased the growing talent pool in the state. Since 2022, interest in the sport had steadily increased, with more young riders emerging and competing at higher levels.

The event was conducted under the supervision of Col Jagat Singh, officiating president of the Equestrian Federation of India, and Col SS Allhawat, VSM, senior member of the EFI executive committee. Dr Tek Chand from the ITBP assisted in the technical conduct of the event.

Senior officials of the Equestrian Federation of Assam, including Sri S. K. Barua (President), Mr. B. K. Dey, IPS (Technical Director), and Mr. Manoj Jalan, were present during the inauguration.

The prize distribution ceremony of the event was held on April 20.
