GUWAHATI: A joint operation was carried out on Thursday by a team of forest staff of Northern range headed by Range officer Pranjal Baruah and Biswanath police headed by DSP Head Quarter to search the assets of Yakub Ali, recently nabbed rhino poacher.
In the operation, cash amount of Rs 10.5 lakh has been seized from the possession of Fatima Khatun, mother in law of Yakub Ali.
Also to be mentioned, one 303 rifle and 24 rounds of ammunition have been recovered from Yakub Ali.
The accused, Yakub Ali is part of the wanted list in many poaching cases. Police said that he was making efforts to secure bail in some of the cases registered against him.
