The victim, identified as Jinsh Bora, a presidential candidate for the NSUI election, was allegedly attacked by two NSUI members, Mithu Ahmed and Prince. Reports indicate that Bora suffered serious head injuries after being beaten, necessitating urgent medical attention at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
According to sources, the attack stemmed from dissatisfaction over Bora's alleged attempts to influence another candidate. Around 40-50 individuals, including members of both NSUI and the Youth Congress, were reportedly present when the violence erupted.
Speaking to GPlus, a member of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) confirmed that the incident took place within the premises. However, no formal complaint has been lodged regarding the matter.
Meanwhile, GPlus attempted to contact Bhangagarh police authorities for a statement, but no response has been received yet.
Further developments on the matter are awaited.
