GUWAHATI: The video of a 6 year old girl singing Assam’s anthem ‘O Mur Apunar Desh’ has gone viral after it was uploaded on YouTube. The girl, identified as Kalmawizo Hmar, hails from Haflong, Assam.
The video started doing the rounds on social media platforms and went viral after Samujjal Bhattacharya, the chief advisor of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) shared the link on his Twitter handle.
Bhattacharya wrote, "An immensely talented child from an interior village of Haflong mesmerised us with her melodious voice.
Her tryst at singing 'O Mur Apunar Desh' is commendable". He also added, "Honoured to bear her educational expenses as discussed with NC Hills ISF for 5 years".
Speaking exclusively to G Plus, her mother Felicia Joute said, “Kalmawizo started singing when she was a little over 2 years old, after getting inspired by watching YouTube videos on her own, without any formal training. She started off by singing Hmar language songs and did her first on-stage performance in a local Children conference in October, 2017.”
Felicia created a YouTube channel for her daughter with the thought that when she grows up, Kalmawizo can reminisce about her childhood performances. Both her parents expressed support and excitement for their daughter’s future endeavours.
