The excise department has released a new policy regarding alcohol consumption. According to the new policy, people have to now apply for a government license to keep more than the prescribed limit of alcohol inside their houses.

As per the new rules, an individual is now permitted to store 1.5 litres of each country-made and Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) liquor and four bottles of beer.

Under this policy, the excise department will take a fee of  Rs 12,000 per year. While applying, people also have to deposit Rs 51,000 as a guarantee money/security money. The deposit money has to be pledged with the District Excise Officer.

With this license, the family members, relatives, guests, and friends who are of legal drinking age can drink within the premises. This applies to all kinds of brands whether foreign or domestic.

If someone now keeps liquor without a license and is exceeding the prescribed limit in Uttar Pradesh they will be subjected to fines and legal action.
