Baruah had been accused in the suicide case of her partner, Mansur Alam, in Guwahati. The incident occurred in Pandu, where Mansur allegedly took his own life after facing mental harassment from Baruah.

Despite being arrested on March 1, in connection with Mansur's death, the investigating police officer failed to produce the case diary in court, leading to Baruah's bail approval. The District Magistrate's Court set the bail at ₹30,000 and a surety.

As per reports Baruah and Mansur's relationship was tumultuous, with Baruah allegedly pressuring Mansur into marriage.

Swati had also accused Mansur of rape, a claim she later retracted. Baruah contested the court's decision to grant bail to Mansur, who was arrested earlier under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act.

Meanwhile, Mansur's family alleged that he had been employed at Baruah's residence for the past one-and-a-half years and that their relationship turned illicit over time.

However, talking to GPlus, a source from the Gauhati High Court said, "Swati Bidhan Baruah has been granted bail on Friday evening."
