GUWAHATI: With citizens behaving irresponsibly and creating chaos, Kamrup (M) District Administration has decided to close of all vegetable wholesale and retail outlets temporarily in Guwahati.
Reports have come in from the Old Jail Road and other parts of the city that people gathered in large numbers to buy vegetables without maintaining "social distancing".
Earlier on March 26, Assam Food & Civil Supplies Department along with Additional Chief secretary of Food Civil, Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department had arranged to sell vegetables at designated points of Guwahati from March 27 onwards.
Further, the officers concerned were also asked to ensure proper maintenance of social distancing during the time of selling of vegetables at the designated points.
