Udalguri Railway Station Set For Comprehensive Revamp

GUWAHATI: As part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), 60 stations in the Northeast are slated for redevelopment with world-class amenities, and Udalguri Railway Station in Assam is poised to undergo a substantial facelift with an estimated cost of ₹14.31 crore.

Udalguri Railway Station, a pivotal stop on the Rangiya – Murkongselek section under the Rangiya Division of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), will witness an extension of the existing station building with an enhanced facade.

The redevelopment plan includes the incorporation of modern amenities such as retiring rooms, waiting rooms equipped with the latest facilities, and Divyangjan-friendly ramps. Additionally, the station will feature two lifts, a 5-meter-wide Foot Over Bridge, and separate toilet blocks for male and female passengers.

Improvements extend to parking facilities and the beautification of the circulating area. All platforms will be equipped with shelters and resurfaced using marble stones and tiles to enhance passenger movement.

The development project also encompasses the creation of an entry-exit path to enhance accessibility for passengers. Tenders for all planned works have been successfully awarded, and the groundwork for the new station building has already commenced.

Simultaneously, progress is underway for other passenger amenities, including the installation of Coach Guidance Boards, Train Information Display Systems, platform extensions, and the provision of easy access water booths for Divyangjan.
