GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has announced the proposed construction of two foot-over bridges at Zoo Road and Paltan Bazar areas of Guwahati.
Keeping in mind the large number of visitors at the Shraddhanjali Kanan Park and the Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden on Radha Govinda Baruah Road, the Government is planning to join both the locations with a foot over-bridge.
Assam Chief Minister (CM) Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday, February 1, announced the construction of a new foot over-bridge between the Shraddhanjali Kanan Park and the Assam State Zoo. The estimated cost of this foot over-bridge is Rs 18 crore.
"We want to ensure that visitors of one place can go to the other location easily over the escalated foot-over bridge," CM Sarma said.
Another foot over-bridge is to be constructed at Paltan Bazaar, from the campus of the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) to the opposite site.
A third foot over-bridge is to be constructed at MG Road, from the Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain Park to the LIC Campus opposite it.
The Public Works Department (Roads) has been asked to start the construction from February 1, so that all the three foot over-bridges can be inaugurated together for public usage.
