Two Guards Of Guwahati Central Jail Suspended For Possession Of Drugs

GUWAHATI: Two guards of the Guwahati Central Jail have been suspended following the recovery of contraband drugs from their possession. The incident came to light on Tuesday during a routine check conducted at the jail's entrance.

The suspended guards have been identified as Raju Thakur and Tankeswar Das. The authorities caught them red-handed with the illegal substances, exposing their alleged involvement in illicit activities within the prison premises.

 

According to sources, the routine inspection, carried out meticulously by the jail administration, led to the discovery of contraband drugs in the possession of Thakur and Das. The exact nature and quantity of the confiscated drugs have not been disclosed yet, but initial reports suggest that the recovery is significant.

Speaking to G Plus, a Central Jail official said, "Upon discovering the illegal items, the authorities wasted no time in suspending the two guards. Further internal investigation is on."

The Guwahati Central Jail administration has not released an official statement regarding the incident. However, sources indicate that a thorough internal investigation will be conducted to determine the extent of the guards' involvement and to identify any potential accomplices or networks operating within the prison.
