GUWAHATI: Two children from Assam have been conferred with the National Bravery Award for their exceptional showcase of courage today, January 25 in Delhi.
The award was conferred upon Nandita Das from Guwahati and Uttam Tanti from Dhekiajuli.
Nandita was awarded for fighting back and saving herself from being abducted by some miscreants and Uttam was awarded for saving the lives of a woman and her child during the Assam floods in 2019.
The National Bravery Awards programme gives due recognition to children who distinguish themselves by performing outstanding deeds of bravery and seeks to inspire other children to emulate their example. The deed should be "an act of spontaneous selfless service.”
A total of 56 children from all over India have been conferred with the National Bravery Award this year.
