GUWAHATI: The Bongaigaon Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the murder of a Bhutanese national, Tek Bahadur Ghalley, whose body was found near the Aie River in Assam’s Bongaigaon district on March 27.

Thenrap Lepcha was arrested from Siliguri on April 10, while Krishna Prasad Adhikari was apprehended the following day in Dadgari. The vehicle belonging to the victim, which was missing since the incident, has also been recovered.
Ghalley, a resident of Bhutan, was reportedly murdered on March 26. According to police, the two accused had booked Ghalley’s vehicle under the pretext of transporting consignment. However, during the journey, they allegedly killed him near the Indo-Bhutan border by striking his head with a stone. His body was later left near the riverbank in Aie River.
Speaking to G Plus, Bongaigaon Dy.SP (HQ) Anupjyoti Bora said that both suspects have confessed to the crime, stating, "We have arrested two individuals who have admitted to killing the victim by striking him on the head with a stone. The murder took place near the Indo-Bhutan border, and the body was dumped near the Aie River. They had taken the victim’s vehicle with them. They intended to steal the vehicle and used the trip as a setup to kill him mid-way. ”
