GUWAHATI: The police intercepted a truck illegally transporting liquor in Guwahati on Tuesday, June 4.

Based on a tip-off, a team from Basistha police station under East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) intercepted one truck, which was en route to Bihar from Arunachal Pradesh. It was loaded with 779 cartons of liquor which was being illegally transported through the state.
Of the lot, 333 cartons of quarter-sized bottles, 200 cartons of half-sized bottles & 1 carton of full-sized bottles were recovered.
In this operation, a person identified as Pritom Dey (35) of Dharmanagar, Tripura was arrested. One fake number number plate (WB85 3722) was also recovered. Further legal proceedings are underway.
