GUWAHATI: The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam intercepted a truck allegedly transporting narcotics from Nagaland to Guwahati on Monday, October 14. Acting on a tip-off, the team stopped the truck, bearing registration number AS 01 RC 2336, near Jorabat, opposite the North East Cancer Hospital, within the jurisdiction of Basistha Police Station.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered 45 soap boxes filled with heroin, collectively weighing approximately 537.2 grams.
The suspected driver and drug supplier, identified as Rananjay Mandal, 46, was taken into custody. Mandal, originally from Bamunkuchi, Nagaon, had been residing in the Bengali-Basti area under the Basistha Police Station, Kamrup district.
The STF has confirmed that all necessary legal procedures are underway. Further investigations are to be done to shed more light on the source and destination of the illicit substances.
