GUWAHATI: The Assam government has designated the Commissioner of Transport as the authority to suspend or cancel trade certificates under the amended Rule 44 and Rule 45 of the 15th Amendment to the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR), 1989.

This notification also appoints the Senior-most Secretary of the Transport Department as the Appellate Authority for such matters.
This has been done to streamline regulatory processes within the transport sector and ensure compliance with the amended CMVR provisions. Trade certificate holders in Assam are advised to adhere strictly to the rules to avoid any actions under the updated regulations.
