GUWAHATI: In a tragic incident, the loco pilot of a passenger train got electrocuted at the Guwahati Railway Station last night, January 18.
As reported by the Railway Police, the deceased, Siba Saikia of the Lachit Express was conducting a loco check when he got electrocuted by the overhead electric lines. As per reports, Saikia died on the spot.
The Lachit Express was scheduled to depart from the Guwahati Railway Station at 10:20 PM, and the co-loco pilot had reportedly already checked the engine as required. However, Saikia himself climbed on top to recheck when the accident occurred.
Siba Saikia is a resident of Golaghat, Assam. The body has been sent to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem.
