Traffic Gets Chaotic In Khanapara After Truck Breaks Down In 9th Mile

GUWAHATI: A massive traffic jam ensued in the bustling Khanapara area on Tuesday morning at approximately 6 AM,  bringing the daily routine of commuters to a standstill. The root cause of this unprecedented congestion was caused by a truck which broke down near a petrol pump at the 9th mile area in Meghalaya.

Soon vehicles queued up for miles, transforming Khanapara into a sea of frustrated motorists. The epicenter of the traffic was the flyover junction, which quickly became a chokepoint for vehicles attempting to navigate the gridlock.

Speaking to G Plus, a student of University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM), said, "The entire road was packed. We had to walk to our college. The jam started at the wee hours but, it wasn't taken care of for the entire first half."

Authorities on the scene, worked to clear the obstruction and restore normal traffic flow. But, according to sources the situation escalated to worse as the traffic stood still.

While speaking to G Plus, a Jorabat Traffic official shared, "We started to clear the jam since early morning but, as the heavy vehicle was stuck, it got difficult. There was already a long queue which made it difficult to clear as the roads are steep towards this side."
