Traffic Chaos In Guwahati, Police Blame It On ADRE Exam

According to traffic police DCP, 1.50 lakh additional vehicles entered the city clogging the roads.

GUWAHATI: The traffic scenario in Guwahati turned nightmarish on Sunday, September 14

as all entry and exit roads to and from the city were jammed with vehicles. The traffic police blamed the situation on the exams for Grade 3 recruitment conducted on the day at centres across the city.

A commuter going to Sonapur to visit a patient waited near Khanapara for an hour. Talking to GPlus the commuter said, "It is not the first time that there is a traffic jam in Guwahati but today the jam near Khanapara is frustrating."

Another commuter, who had brought his daughter for the exam to Guwahati, said, "If the government cannot manage traffic, they should not conduct exams on such a huge scale.”

Similarly many other commuters complained about the situation and alleged that the authorities lacked planning.

Talking about the situation, the Guwahati ttraffic DCP said, "Cannot help it as around 1.50 lakh additional vehicles came to Guwahati today for exams."

It needs to be mentioned that any event in Guwahati, especially whenever organised by the government, takes a heavy toll on the commuters.
