GUWAHATI: A decapitated body was discovered on the railway tracks near Kamakhya Railway Junction on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Dhan Mani Bhatta, a resident of Garimari in Mangaldoi, as confirmed by an identity card found in his pocket.

The Kamakhya Government Railway Police (GRP) were alerted to the scene after the body was located. Following standard procedures, the body was removed from the tracks and sent for a post-mortem examination.
An official from the Kamakhya GRP stated in a conversation with GPlus, “According to preliminary investigation, it looks like a suicide, but nothing is confirmed. We are still investigating the case.”
Reports indicate that Bhatta was in Guwahati to invite friends to his wedding and for some last-minute shopping, with the ceremony scheduled for October 7. This has led family and friends to suspect foul play, asserting that the case may involve murder.
