GUWAHATI: Three men have been sentenced for sexually abusing a minor girl in Guwahati’s Lalganesh.

On Wednesday, August 7, the Court of Additional Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge, POCSO, Kamrup (M), passed the sentence on Pappa Ali Khan of Fatasil Ambari, Bittu Saha of Bhaskar Nagar, and Bikky Sarkar of Lalganesh.
They were sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment under Section 6 of the POCSO Act and Section 376-D of the IPC, and ordered to pay ₹1,00,000 in compensation to the victim.
The case was registered on January 17, 2024, at the All Women Police Station, Panbazar, following the victim's report of abuse which occurred on the night of January 14-15, 2024, in a rented room in Lalganesh.
A thorough investigation by Sub-Inspector Barasha Buragohain led to the filing of a charge sheet on April 12, 2024.
Talking to GPlus, a source in POCSO court said, "The convicts got 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and court has imposed ₹1lakh on the three convicts each."
