Three arrested in Girish Dutta murder case

GUWAHATI: In connection to the murder case of Girish Dutta the Tinsukia police have arrested the third accused, Bijut Chutia from Denka village in Barekuri in upper Assam’s Tinsukia district on 3 June 2019. 

Earlier on 4 June and 6 June 2019,  the police arrested Makum and Bitupan Chutia - the other two accused in the same case.

On June 3rd, 2019, the victim, Girish Dutta was attacked while he was on his way home after attending the Kendriya Adhibeshan of Asom Moran Sabha and Moran Jatiya Mahila Parishad at Tingrai, Tinsukia. The victim was brutally assaulted and repeatedly stabbed to death in Makum.

The incident took place near the office of the 2nd Assam Police Battalion in Makum when the victim was coming home with his father. The victim was a resident in Shantipur area.
