GUWAHATI: A theft took place at a house near the post office at Rest Camp in Maligaon in the early hours of Wednesday, March 5. The miscreants broke into the house of one Mintu Dey and decamped with cash and valuables. The thieves looted over ₹50,000 in cash along with gold ornaments worth approximately ₹7 lakh.
Following the incident, the family lodged an FIR at Jalukbari Police Station. According to the family, the thieves had probably sprayed some chemical making the occupants of the room unconscious. They woke up later to discover the theft.
Speaking to GPlus, an official from Jalukbari police station confirmed the incident, “ A theft took place in the Rest Camp area in Guwahati’s Maligaon. The thieves looted ₹50,000 in cash and gold ornaments worth approximately ₹7 lakh. The thieves entered the house through the back door. Fingerprints are being taken and investigation is going on.”
