A biker from Uttarakhand, known as ‘Rider Noni’ and who is on a 30,000 km ‘Women Empowerment’ ride, took to Instagram to share a video about the incident. She is also part of the group. She has appealed to the Assam Police and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for help in recovering the bike, the loss of which has impacted the group’s travel plans. She stated that she had been on tour for the past six months, covering nearly half of India, but faced this unexpected setback for the first time just upon entering Assam.
The biker shared CCTV footage of the theft and explained that after entering the Northeast, other riders had joined her in the journey. In Guwahati, they booked a guesthouse in Sarusajai from where the bike was stolen at around 2:30 AM.
Given Noni’s wide following on social media, the incident has now reached across the country bringing a bad name to Guwahati with netizens questioning safety in the region.
A female rider from Assam, Meenakshi Das, in an Instagram post also spoke about the incident saying she was “angry” and it was a shame for the Northeast, and appealed to all to try and help find the UP-registered bike.
Mohit has lodged a complaint with the Basishta Police Station in this regard.
