Thawar Chand Gehlot to replace BJP’s Arun Jaitley in Rajya Sabha

GUWAHATI: Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister, Thawar Chand Gehlot has been appointed as the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha, according to a report by ANI. 

Gehlot will replace Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Arun Jaitely who opted out of the government citing health reasons.

He will occupy the first seat in the House, next to PM Narendra Modi. 

Gehlot represents Shajapur reserved Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh. 

It should be noted that the Rajya Sabha will convene to meet for the Budget Session from June 20, and the session will continue on till July 26.
