Tezpur University Faculty Win Awards For Contribution In Science By ASTEC

 

GUWAHATI: An assistant professor in the Department of Physics at Tezpur University, Dr Moon Moon Devi has been awarded the "Young Scientist/Innovator" for 2022 by the Assam Science, Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC), an organisation that supports research in science, technology, and the environment in Assam.

ASTEC has also awarded Prof Kishori Mohan Pathak, a well-known physicist and the first Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University, a Lifetime Achievement award for his work in the area of physics.

Dr Devi's study focuses on neutrino physics, detector simulation and instrumentation, and data analysis of particle detectors for high-energy physics using machine learning. She is the head of the NuAPP (Neutrino & Astro-Particle Physics) Laboratory at Tezpur University's Department of Physics.

Her group is also helping with modelling, instrumentation, and physics analysis for the Hyper-Kamiokande Neutrino experiment in Japan and the Gamma Ray Astronomy PeV EnergieS phase-3 (GRAPES-3) experiment at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Ooty.
