IMD Predicts Light Rainfall In Parts Of Assam From February 6

 

GUWAHATI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted light rainfall at isolated places in Assam starting Wednesday, February 6, while dry weather conditions are expected to prevail across most parts of the state and its neighbouring regions.

According to the IMD’s latest weather report, a cyclonic circulation over central Assam and its adjoining areas has extended up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. Meanwhile, another cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam at 3.1 km above mean sea level has weakened. Despite such developments, significant rainfall activity is not anticipated in the state.

The weather department has also predicted shallow to moderate fog at isolated pockets across Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. In Arunachal Pradesh, higher reaches may experience light to moderate snowfall, but no major temperature changes have been expected to occur in the region.

Additionally, a thunderstorm and lightning alert has been issued for isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh and parts of northeast Assam in the coming days.

Residents have been advised to stay updated with the latest forecasts, especially those in areas prone to fog and thunderstorms. The IMD has also recommended caution while travelling due to possible visibility issues caused by foggy conditions.
