Assam CM Stresses State As Investment Hub In India-Japan Intellectual Conclave

 

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the fifth edition of the India-Japan Intellectual Conclave, “Kizuna: Co-Creating Ecosystems for Change – Technology, Education, and Logistics” in Guwahati on Thursday, February 6. Sarma focused on Assam’s potential as an investment hub, citing its strengths in green energy, tourism, renewable energy, and infrastructure. He seeks Japan’s collaboration in building robust startup ecosystem.

Assam chief minister highlighted the relationship between India and Japan, tracing their historical ties back to 552 CE. He emphasised the growing bilateral partnership in sectors such as semiconductors, education, and logistics. With over 40,000 Indians currently residing in Japan and bilateral trade reaching $22.9 billion in 2023, the relationship between the two nations continues to strengthen. 

Sarma referenced his recent visit to Japan, where he engaged with key ministers and industrial leaders to explore investment opportunities, particularly in electronics, precision engineering, and green technologies.

The Chief Minister pointed out on the ongoing development of a semiconductor assembly plant in Jagiroad, encouraging collaboration between Indian and Japanese industries to build a robust ecosystem in the sector. 

He extended an invitation to Japanese investors to participate in the upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit, reinforcing Assam’s commitment to fostering international partnerships.

The conclave was attended by senior officials from both nations.
