GUWAHATI: Tensions ran high at Cotton University following a nail-biting finish in the student elections for the post of General Secretary. Nirab Hazarika from MNDP Hostel emerged victorious by a razor-thin margin, winning by just one vote. Hazarika secured 1,045 votes, edging past Kuldip Goutam Sharma of RKB Hostel, who received 1,044 votes.

The close result has sparked demands for a recount from some students.
Talking to GPlus, a student from RKB Hostel said, "Since Kuldip from our hostel lost by just one vote, we are demanding a recount. This is an injustice"
However, authorities are yet to comment on the situation until this report is filed. The situation remains tense with many awaiting an official response.
