Tea Board Notifies Last Dates Of Plucking Green Leaf In Northeast

 

GUWAHATI: The Tea Board under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued an order today, September 1, notifying about the last date of plucking and receiving of green leaves for all tea factories in Assam and the North-Eastern region is December 11, 2021. For Cachar and Tripura region, the last date is fixed at December 18.

The Tea Board has passed this order in order to curb excess tea production and maintain the quality of Assam Tea.

A senior official associated with the tea industry of Assam said, "Plucking should have been stopped by the first week of December itself to ensure quality production. This is done to ensure increase in demand and quality supply of tea."

The last date for processing of Green leaf at the factory for all units in Assam and the NE region, except Cachar and Tripura, is December 13. For the latter two regions, the last date is December 20.

The last date for intimation/declaration to the Tea Board by all tea manufacturing units regarding the closure of their manufacturing in Assam and the NE region at December 14, and for Cachar and Tripura at December 21.

Furthermore, manufactures of Assam and NE region need to complete the sorting, gapping, packing (CTC and Orthodox/Green tea) and moving the packed teas to the notified tea storage area with invoice marketing on 24 December (for CTC tea manufacturing) and 29 December (for Orthodox/Green tea manufacturing).

For Cachar and Tripura regions, the dates for the same are fixed at 31 December (for CTC tea manufacturing) and 5 January (for Orthodox/Green tea manufacturing) respectively.

In case of failure to abide by the directives, necessary action by the Board shall be taken.
