GUWAHATI: The Supreme Court extended the deadline for filing claims and objections in National Register of Citizens (NRC) on December 12.
The new date for submitting the forms has been extended from December 15 to December 31.
The Apex court also extended the date of the verification process of claims to February 15.

The state, in its petition, had sought the Court for extension of the last date following demands from various organisations.
It is to be mentioned that the final NRC draft had listed 2.8 crore people, leaving out about 40 lakh applicants. So far only about 10 lakh people have been able to file their claims, say sources.
