GUWAHATI: Guwahati Traffic Police have taken action against illegal vehicle crossings on the Shraddhanjali Flyover, following a GPlus report highlighting the issue.
On March 4, GPlus had released a video report showing multiple vehicles making unauthorised U-turns on the flyover, posing a serious risk to commuters. Several users on social media were quick to comment about the issue.
One of the users, Anjali Sarma, commented, "why dont build a cemented divider right from start to the end of flyover or just waiting for some disaster to happen?In india this is the last option due to this unruly citizens."
Another user commented, "At the end of the day, it's useless to criticise the govt when there's no mutual cooperation from the citizens. I'm afraid someday something big will happen in this area. Again."
"This has become a menace in the Shraddhanjali Flyover. Stringent actions need to be taken for such drivers and riders." Tinkuraj Talukdar commented on the issue.
Responding promptly, the Public Works Department (Roads) [PWD(R)], at the request of Guwahati Traffic Police, has now installed spring poles at the junction to prevent further violations and enhance road safety.
