GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled the statue of the legendary Ahom General, Bir Lachit Barphukan, along with the 'Saheed Smarak' at Bir Lachit Barphukan Park, Narangi Military Station on Monday.
The event was marked by captivating performances, including renditions of Assam's state song and a dramatic portrayal of the legendary General Bir Lachit Barphukan, presented enthusiastically by the Assam State Cultural Department.
The statue unveiling ceremony represented the rich historical and cultural heritage of Assam. Attendees paid their respects to the iconic warrior, General Bir Lachit Barphukan, acknowledging his remarkable contributions to the Ahom Dynasty. The day was also dedicated to honouring the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation, with the unveiling of the 'Saheed Samarak' in the park.
The event witnessed the presence of several esteemed dignitaries, including Lieutenant General RP Kalita, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command, Lieutenant General Sanjay Malik, General Officer Commanding 101 Area, Major General PS Joshi, General Officer Commanding 51 Sub Area, Major General RK Jha (Retd), historians, Armed Forces personnel, and NCC cadets.
