GUWAHATI: The central government has removed the SPG protection for the Gandhi family which includes Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, government officials on November 8.
The family will now get 'Z+' security by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on an all-India basis, they said.
In August, the central government also removed SPG protection of the former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
Although the Gandhis have not been informed of the decision yet, CRPF personnel have already been stationed at their 10 Janpath residence.
