GUWAHATI: The National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) was launched in Guwahati on January 1, 2024.
The NCMC, introduced by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, is poised to revolutionise travel and financial transactions by providing a unified solution for various payment needs.
The NCMC, operating through the RuPay card system, serves as a versatile transport card that goes beyond facilitating travel payments. The National Common Mobility Card is not just stated to be a travel card, it's a comprehensive solution for the modern commuter. It is designed to seamlessly integrate payments for travel fares, toll taxes, and retail purchases, and even allowing for cash withdrawals.
The card, available in various forms such as prepaid, debit, or credit, can be obtained from associated banks, making it accessible to a wide range of users. Its integration with the RuPay system ensures interoperability, allowing users to transact across a network of ATMs, point-of-sale terminals, and online platforms.
Transport Minister, Parimal Suklabaidya took to X to put out, “HCM dangoriya also launched the National Common Mobility Card, an initiative by ASTC in line with GoI's vision of 'One Nation, One Card', to simplify payments in transport, shopping,etc. Was delighted to attend today's precious launch ceremony along with my other cabinet colleagues & dignitaries.”

Along with this, 200 electric buses were launched on New Year's which will be plying through 13 routes within the streets of Guwahati.
