GUWAHATI: The prime accused in the Maligaon hit-and-run case Abhinash Sharma has surrendered before the Jalukbari Police on Monday.
Earlier Jalukbari Police Station had witnessed hundreds of local residents assembling with candle lights demanding justice in the hit-and-run case which happened on August 14th evening in Maligoan.
The protest and media coverage resulted in building pressure upon the police who later sent a notice to the accused Abhinash Sharma to present himself at the Jalukbari Police Station.
Allegations have been made that the police was trying to delay the arrest and investigation as the accused was the son of a retired High Court Judge.
The deceased Ganesh Rao lost his life and a few others got injured when Abhinash Sharma allegedly rammed them with his car and ran away from the accident spot.
