GUWAHATI: Guwahati Crime Branch conducted a highly successful operation in the city, resulting in the seizure of a significant quantity of gold biscuits from the Fancy Bazar area of Guwahati on Wednesday afternoon.
Swiftly taking action, the crime branch apprehended three individuals involved in smuggling activities on the spot, as they were in the process of delivering the gold to a local shop in the Lakhtokia area of Guwahati.
According to initial reports, the smugglers had acquired the gold biscuits with the intention of supplying them to a shop located in the ABZ Complex, situated in the Lakhtokia area of the city.
The estimated market value of the confiscated gold biscuits is believed to be worth approximately ₹36 lakh. This substantial seizure serves as a significant blow to the illicit gold trade network operating within the city.
Further investigation into the matter has been initiated.
