A video of the incident has surfaced on social media, showing the slipper being hurled at his car in the convoy while moving through a crowded area. It remains unclear whether the person responsible has been apprehended. Despite stringent security measures, the breach happened, and photos and videos of the incident have gone viral on social media.

The video also shows the slipper land on the bonnet of the vehicle in which the PM was reportedly travelling. Around five or six seconds later, a member of the PM’s security detail is seen stretching out his arm, retrieving it, and throwing it away. Many are also of the speculation, that the act was not deliberate but unintentional.

Modi was in Varanasi on Tuesday where he released ₹20,000 crore in the 17th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi to more than 9.26 crore farmers at the PM Kisan Samman Sammelan. Modi won his third term in Varanasi with a margin of 1,52,513 votes, far below his 2019 victory margin of 4.8 lakh.
