Hailing from Samastipur, Suryavanshi, aged 13 years and 243 days, is not only the youngest player to feature in an IPL roster but also the youngest ever to enter the IPL auction list.
Suryavanshi burst onto the national stage during the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy season, debuting at just 12 years and 284 days against Mumbai. This achievement broke previous records held by Yuvraj Singh, who debuted at 15 years and 57 days, and Sachin Tendulkar, who started at 15 years and 230 days.
Suryavanshi further continued his record-breaking spree during the Youth Test series against Australia in Chennai, smashing 104 off 62 balls. At 13 years and 188 days, he became the youngest centurion in the 170-year history of competitive cricket.
His century, scored in just 58 balls, is the second fastest in youth cricket, surpassed only by England’s Moeen Ali, who achieved the feat in 56 balls.
