GUWAHATI: In a significant breakthrough, the Cachar Police have successfully arrested six individuals on charges of allegedly robbing people using UPI transactions.
The accused were apprehended during a special operation carried out on Tuesday night at Tintikri and Sarishakuri villages, falling under the jurisdiction of the Katigorah constituency in the Cachar district, confirmed a source from the Cachar Police Department.
The suspects are believed to have carried out a robbery on a driver at National Highway-6, where they employed UPI transactions to facilitate the crime and made away with a sum of ₹2000 in cash.
Additionally, the police seized sharp weapons from the possession of the arrested individuals.
As of now, further investigations are underway to uncover additional details about the incident and determine if others were involved in the act.
