Shortage of City Buses in Guwahati – Harassment likely to continue for 15-20 days

Several Guwahatians today were left stranded across various bus stoppages in the city, looking for city buses to board.

While bus stops remained crowded, citizens also reported overloaded buses plying in the city.

According to reports, this is because of the ongoing election preparations in Nagaland and Meghalaya for which, more than 300 privately owned buses have been sent out.

Anand Prakash Tiwari, ASTC, MD, speaking exclusively to G Plus said, “More than 300 buses owned by private players have gone out of the city to Nagaland and Meghalaya on election duty. However, ASTC buses have not been affected. This problem will last a few more days until end of elections.” “This happens every time our nearby states conduct elections”, he added.

According to sources there are still 200 ASTC buses plying in the city.
