GUWAHATI: A series of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between the Assam Health Department and various national and international agencies during the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit held on February 25-26 in Guwahati. The agreements have been put in place to enhance healthcare infrastructure, technology, and medical services across the state.

The Medanta Medicity Hospital inked a MoU worth ₹1050 crore to establish a 1,500-bedded multispecialty hospital, a women and child hospital, and a Lemon Tree Hotel. Similarly, the Lilawati Foundation committed an investment ranging from ₹250-300 crore to set up a multispecialty tertiary care hospital within a period of 3-4 years.
A non-financial MoU was signed between the Ministry of Trade & Industry, Singapore, and Assam’s Medical Education and Research Department (MERD) to facilitate training and employment opportunities for Assamese nurses in Singapore, strengthening bilateral cooperation in healthcare.
Other agreements included a ₹500 crore investment by Fischer Medical Ventures (MV) for expanding indigenous production of MRI, CT, and X-ray equipment over five years, and a ₹280 crore project by North East Health City Pvt Ltd to set up a comprehensive healthcare university and trauma centres across Assam.
Additionally, Life Care Hospitals Limited, Kenya, pledged ₹260 crore to establish multi-specialty hospitals with advanced treatment capabilities. The Assam Global University also signed a ₹50 crore agreement to develop a full-fledged Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital.
As part of the initiative, SN Group and Axom Companies Pvt Ltd committed ₹380 crore towards core insurance hospitals, while Peerless Group announced a ₹142 crore investment for a 100-bedded hospital.
Furthermore, the Sanskriti Foundation signed a MoU for ₹50 crore towards a 100-bedded hospital, which is expected to be completed by 2026.
