GUWAHATI: The Assam’s Environment and Forest Department on Wednesday, February 26, inked multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with investors worth over ₹5,000 crore at the ongoing Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit in Guwahati.

Among the key agreements was an MoU with Re-Sustainability Ltd, Hyderabad, for the development of an Integrated Solid Waste Management Project. This project will aim to enhance waste disposal and environmental sustainability in the state.
Other agreements focused on afforestation, biodiversity conservation, and eco-tourism projects to strengthen Assam’s green infrastructure.
The summit also witnessed a ₹4,800 crore investment commitment from the Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways to improve Assam’s riverine transport network. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal highlighted that the funds would be utilized for developing ship repair facilities, alternate roads for ports, and river terminals, boosting connectivity and trade.
Additionally, the Assam Health Department secured multiple MoUs to upgrade healthcare facilities. Notable agreements included Medanta Medicity Hospital’s ₹1,050 crore investment for a 1,500-bed multispecialty hospital and Fischer Medical Ventures’ ₹500 crore project for indigenous MRI and CT scan equipment production.
