GUWAHATI: In an eerie occurrence, a large number of fishes were discovered to be dead at a tributary of the Umiam Lake at the Umtiekh Pyllun village in the Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya.
Suspicion of the fish dying due to poisoning has arisen among the locals, as per media reports.
The Umktieh Pyllun and Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) unit have suspected the poisoning to be caused by miscreants and have condemned the act labelling it as ‘insensitive’, as per media reports.
The Seng Samla Umktieh Pyllun and KSU Umktieh units have requested the protection of local aquatic life as well as an immediate action against those responsible.
They also urged citizens to be cautious and protect the environment from further harm.
