Seven Mobile Forensic Vans Launched In Assam

GUWAHATI: In a move to enhance the investigative capabilities of law enforcement agencies in the state, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma flagged off the first batch of seven mobile forensic vans during a ceremony held at the Assam Secretariat Complex on Thursday. These vans are designated for use by the Directorate of Forensic Science.

During the event, CM Sarma expressed his confidence that the newly launched mobile forensic vans would lead to a significant increase in conviction rates in the future. He noted that it is often observed that individuals accused of serious criminal offenses are acquitted due to a lack of sufficient evidence to support convictions.

Sarma highlighted that these mobile forensic vans, equipped with state-of-the-art tools and equipment, would enable law enforcement agencies to reach crime scenes promptly and facilitate the secure collection and preservation of critical evidence, preventing contamination. Furthermore, Sarma announced plans to provide a greater number of such mobile forensic vehicles to law enforcement agencies in the coming days.
