GUWAHATI: The construction of a second ropeway in Guwahati might start soon as Assam Chief Minister (CM) Himanta Biswa Sarma has asked to expedite the process.
The proposed second ropeway will connect the Kamakhya Railway Station to the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati.
In a meeting held with officials of the Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway and other officials on February 13, CM Sarma asked the Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration to provide the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the Railways to undertake the project.
Chief Public Relation Officer of NF Railway Sabyasachi De told G Plus that the project is still in its preliminary stage. "We are still in the process of land acquisition as the pylons will be placed on State Government land. Further steps regarding the project can be done only after the NOC is received," he added.
Discussions were also undertaken for a second passenger entry gate to the Guwahati Railway Station to decongest the rush of passengers on Platform 1.
